Welcome.

Having a kid really turns your world upside down and inside out and makes it full of rainbows and unicorns and magical cookies. It also makes it really hard to leave your kid for over 40 hours a week to work at a desk. Luckily, I write.

Rather than continue pining away for my tot while working as a full-time senior reporter, I am making the leap into full-time freelance writing. This web site, currently semi-under-construction, will be my professional space containing links to writing clips, as well as more personal writing and maybe even a craft project or two. Or twelve.

A little more about me: I have been working as a journalist for newspapers and magazines for 10 years, mostly in feature writing (though I have plenty of experience writing news stories and press releases - not that features aren't news, although I've met some editors who would disagree!). I enjoy comics and once curated an art show about autobiographical comic books. I own a piece of Morrissey's shirt that he threw into the audience at a concert - it is lavender, pin-striped, and for awhile, smelled pretty good. I am married to a man who once created a periodical devoted to Marvel comics character M.O.D.O.K. ("Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing") Yes, M.O.D.O.K. has a ladyfriend, and her name is Ms. M.O.D.O.K. Halloween is my favorite holiday. I have a half-built trapeze languishing in my closet. My son's hair sticks straight up. I could live on avocadoes. I will write for you.
